What is KYC?

KYC stands for Know Your Customer. 

It is a fundamental principle of the Anti-Money Laundering Act that companies must know their customers and also have an obligation to continuously monitor the customer. The purpose of KYC is to prevent money laundering and terror financing, by companies knowing who their customers are, as well as whether the customer relationship has a legitimate purpose, in order to gain a deeper insight into the customer's overall risk profile. 

KYC includes, among other things, obtaining ID information and verifying it, as well as making a risk assessment based on collected data.
