The purpose of KYC is to prevent money laundering and terror financing, by companies knowing who their customers are, as well as whether the customer relationship has a legitimate purpose, in order to gain a deeper insight into the customer's overall risk profile.
KYC includes, among other things, obtaining ID information and verifying it, as well as making a risk assessment based on collected data.
